About Neil Bastian

Neil Bastian is an award-nominated musical theatre writer from Maesteg, South Wales. His songs have been performed all over the West End. 

His Van Gogh musical The Rise and Fall of Vinnie & Paul was a top 5 finalist in the MTI/Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award 2023/24.

​It had a showcase performance at The Other Palace in 2023 as well as a limited run of an hour-long version in Waterloo in 2025.

‘Wheatfield with Crows’, a song from the same show, was nominated for the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Prize 2022.

Hi large-cast, Wales-set musical The Mayfly Man was chosen for a BYMT workshop in summer 2024, and is being workshopped at Lincoln University in 2027.

Neil is also developing his adoption musical Force Ten Gayle. He is a member of Mercury Musical Developments and an alumnus of the Book, Music and Lyrics workshop.
